Induratio Penis Plastica (or IPP for short, also known as Peyronie’s disease) is an abnormal curvature of the penis which often causes considerable pain during an erection. An upwards curvature of the penis is most common, but it may also be bent to either side or downwards.

Peyronie's disease is a connective tissue disorder involving the growth of fibrous plaques in the soft tissue of the penis.Specifically, scar tissue forms in the tunica albuginea, the thick sheath of tissue surrounding the corpora cavernosa, causing pain, abnormal curvature, erectile dysfunction, indentation, loss of girth and shortening. A condition characterized by hardening of the PENIS due to the formation of fibrous plaques on the dorsolateral aspect of the PENIS, usually involving the membrane (tunica albuginea) surrounding the erectile tissue (corpus cavernosum penis). This may eventually cause a painful deformity of the shaft or constriction of the urethra, or both.
